Winter Park Ski Resort announced that 2005-2006 could become its best season yet. Winter Park, with its close proximity to Denver, its ski train (www.skitrain.com), and a small town charm is a local's favorite. Accommodations in the surrounding area are plentiful, but for a quaint and charming retreat, a rental cabin or condo with fireplace is the perfect choice for a snowy mountain escape. Vacations Inc (www.vacationsinc.com) specializes in both large and small vacation rentals for Winter Park and The Fraser Valley.

Winter Park has justifiably gained a reputation for world class skiing and snowboarding, but many vacationers are now in search of unique activities to add to the traditional fare of downhilling. In order to achieve a more rounded winter vacation experience, the valley has evolved to offer a host of outdoor winter activities both for the skier and non skier alike.

Winter Park Ski Resort is 3000 acres of greens, blues, and blacks, both groomed and knee deep in the white stuff. Winter Park is one of Colorado's premier resorts and is most easily accessible from Denver and the airport. Cross country skiing is also popular in Winter Park with over 260 kilometers of groomed trails. The Fraser Valley offers a wide variety of choices for skating, classic or venturing off the track.

Numerous companies throughout the valley specialize in snowmobile rentals and provide maps, grooming information, and guided tours. The snowmobile tour offered by Grand Adventures (www.grandadventures.com), which aside from being an exhilarating ride to the top of the Continental Divide and back, follows the historic "Moffat" railroad route that trains had to use up until 78 years ago when the tunnel through the mountains was completed.

Sleigh rides are a romantic way to enjoy a starlit evening in Fraser Valley. For the animal lover, Dog Sled Rides offer a thrilling journey through Winter Park's beautiful backcountry. Snow tubing is an exhilarating ride down the slopes and is a wonderful activity for both kids and adults alike.

After a long day in the cold, hot mineral baths are great for getting rid of a chill. Located about 30 minutes from Winter Park, the hot mineral pools and baths once used by the Ute Indians for their healing powers are newly renovated. Brian Lence, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Vacations Inc described the pools as the "ultimate unique experience… imagine yourself relaxing in a 112°natural mineral pool, looking out across the Grand County snow-laden vistas of rivers, meadows and mountains, and right in front of you along comes a coal train or the Amtrak California Zephyr to provide the sound effects. It doesn't get more unique than that!"

For those who prefer to remain indoors, Winter Park offers quaint shops of all types and numerous dining locales, both fine and not-so-fine. Also, the ski train provides an escape to the city lights of Denver's downtown for the urban minded.

This season is breaking snowfall records. Winter Park, Colorado's winter wonderland is your escape. Come enjoy the powder.

Trailer lights, rear lights and running lights are also an important component of utility trailers.

Before Buying a Utility Trailer
Buying a utility trailer certainly fulfills your needs, but what exactly is your need. The first thing before buying a utility trailer is discovering your need— why you want to buy it.

You should consider the type of braking system you want for your utility trailer. You can choose from the electric braking and surge braking.

You should carefully check the trailer for bolts. If a trailer is joined by a good number of bolts, you should not consider buying it; instead consider buying a trailer which is welded together.

Further ask a lot of question on various aspects of utility trailers from the dealer. Clarify any concerns with your dealer to ensure that you are buying the right trailer for you. And enjoy hassle-free load transportation.

The Ice Hotel – Is an Ice Hotel the Ultimate in Cool Destinations?
Author: Gary Hill

The demand for a stay in an ice hotel has never been greater. The first hotel made of ice opened in Jukkasjarvi, a Lapland town in the north of Sweden, in1990. The Ice Hotel concept has gripped the world's imagination since then.

Sweden remains the world's main venue for buildings made of ice. By exploring Sweden you might expect to find ice galleries, ice restaurants and ice bars as well as the ice hotels. But Sweden is not alone - the other Scandinavian countries have launched their own versions of the Ice Hotel concept. Even Alaska and upstate Quebec in Canada have built an ice hotel in the last few years.

The real adventure of an ice hotel is in staying overnight but many visitors simply arrive for the day to dine in the restaurant or to drink in an Ice Bar. There is nothing quite so warming as a shot of pure vodka served from a glass made entirely of ice.

If your hands are not too numb at the time then you can "tie the knot" in the coolest manner imaginable. Ice hotel weddings have become so popular that the Scandinavian ice hotels can't keep up with the demand. The original ice hotel in Sweden is only in existence for around four months each year before it (quite literally) melts away to nothing but it's remarkably busy during its short season. Fifteen thousand guests stayed last year and this year's Ice Hotel has eighty-eight bedrooms - thirty of them specially decorated suites created by local ice artists.

All of the ice hotels offer daytime activities and excursions such as ice-carving classes, snowmobile excursions, reindeer rides and dog sledging. The original Ice Hotel in Sweden also has a four hundred-seat theatre where guests can enjoy rock music, opera and other theatrical performances in the evenings. You can purchase Ice Hotel souvenirs and merchandise in the Ice Hotel shop and the concept has spread beyond Sweden. The original Ice Hotel company now run two permanent Ice Bars where the cool citizens of Milan and Stockholm can gather for an evening of "chilling."

If you're planning a visit to an Ice Hotel then follow these top tips on how to sleep well when the temperature in your bedroom never rises above minus five degrees.

Try to take part in an evening activity so that you're already tired when you go to bed.

Avoid the obvious temptation and don't drink too much - getting up to the toilet in the middle of the night is not much fun when it's minus five degrees in your bedroom!

Do make sure that your sleeping bag fits you snugly and wear socks, thermal underwear and a woolly hat in bed. Sexy it ain't! But definitely essential to a comfortable night.

Whatever happens you're sure to have a unique experience and are not likely to quickly forget the night you spent in an Ice Hotel.

Gary Hill is a travel writer based near Edinburgh in Scotland. He thinks his own bedroom is more than cold enough at times but the Ice Hotel concept seems to attract many thousands each year!

You can read more about the http://www.vacation2europe.com/ice-hotel.html " Ice Hotel and how to book a stay on Gary's website. Snowmobile Helmets help.Following is an article by the staff of the Canadian publication SmartRisk and highlights the dangers associated with snowmobiling—a sport that is popular not only in Canada, but also in the U.S."

Snowmobiling remains popular for Canadians seeking a fun recreational activity, or a versatile mode of winter transportation. But it also continues to top the list of winter's most lethal sports. The same is true in the U.S.

According to a study released in 2003 by the Canadian Institute for Health Information, 16% of severe sports and recreational injuries in Canada in 2000/2001 involved snowmobiles. That ranks second only to cycling (18%).

Most of those injured on snowmobiles were men in their early 30s. And of the 92 people admitted to hospital with snowmobile injuries, fully one quarter had drunk alcohol or taken drugs before heading out into the snow. Also, many were not wearing snowmobile helmets.

"The risk of serious injury can be significantly reduced by not consuming alcohol prior to snowmobiling, or prior to participating in any winter sports," says Dr. Robert Conn, President and CEO of SMARTRISK. "People need to realize that by riding a snowmobile without a helmet or after they have been drinking, they are taking a huge risk which can have tragic consequences."

Snowmobile help is readily available in Canada and the U.S. at sports centers and online. Use your browser to find online sources or snowmobile helmets; a click of your mouse could make the difference between having fun and having no life at all.

Check snowmobile parts. The working condition of your snowmobile is of utmost importance. There are now online sites where you can purchase snowmobile parts to maintain your machine in tip top condition.

A malfunctioning part cannot only ruin your snowmobile, but it can cause a serious and sometimes fatal accident. It is important to note that any sport or recreation that involves complicated machinery (such as a snowmobile or a motorcycle) requires constant vigilance to maintain that machine in good and safe running order.
